A deserted island

A long scar smashed into th jungle,

was a bath of heat.

That's a reef out in the sea

with no grown-ups at all.

The shore was fledged

with palm trees.

The bank was covered

with coarse grass.

Behind this was the darkness

of the forest proper.

Perhaps a mile away,

the white surf flinked on a coral reef

and beyond that was a dark blue open sea.

A golden light danced and shattered

just over his face.

A blurred sunlight slid

over their bodies.

like bright winged things in the shade.

Here's a land of their own,

a completely deserted island.

  1. Lovely choice of phrases. Good imagery. Do remember to edit...and include in the subtitle that this is a Found Poem from Lord of the Flies.
